Chapter Nine
Mitch had thought Darcy in a leopard-print dress was a sight to behold. It was nothing compared to Darcy in a trench coat with the waist cinched tight and the collar up high.
And, he suspected, very little else.
Nobody wore trench coats in December. Hell, here in the Sunshine state they didn’t wear them in bloody July.
Was she naked under that thing?
His dick voted yes as his gaze took the tour. From the tips of the shiny patent leather fuck-me heels to the sheer black of her stockings all the way up to the glossy pillows of her mouth and the sultry sweep of her heavily fringed eyes, it voted yes.
She raised an eyebrow. “Finished?”
“Wow,” he murmured.
He hadn’t really known what to wear. What did one wear to an ass spanking? At Fine Lines it didn’t really matter, but hell if it didn’t matter here. He’d gone for his black trousers and a long-sleeved, white shirt that he hadn’t tucked in or bothered to button. The way her eyes had zeroed in on his chest when he’d opened the door seemed to be a good indication she approved.
“Are you going to invite me inside or are we going to make this a public flogging?”
She smiled at him as she said it and he felt fifteen years old again, all hormones and hard-ons. “Well, I don’t know,” he smiled back. “I think old Ted would appreciate it.”
“How about I pop my spanking cherry in private before we start selling tickets?”
Mitch fell back to let her pass. “Deal.”
Her arm brushed his chest as she stepped inside and he caught the smell of butterscotch again. An errant, wispy tendril of hair had escaped her soft up-do and kissed her shoulder.
He shut the door as she looked around. Candlelight glowed from the half dozen candles of different shapes and sizes he’d scattered around the living room. They cast shadows on the walls as Ed Sheeran played low and sexy on the sound system.
“Nice,” she murmured as she turned to face him.
“I’m pleased you approve.”
She raised her hand from her side and handed him a crop. Mitch inspected it, his belly tightening in anticipation. It was light and flexible with a narrow head. He should have told her to get a broader one. The smaller the surface area the more it was going to sting.
He was going to have to take that into account when he used it on her ass.
“Props,” he murmured, his gaze meeting hers.
He snapped it through the air by his side. The nearest flame wobbled and its shadow flickered on the wall. Darcy dragged in a husky breath. Jesus. She was really into this.
Mitch nodded. “It should do the trick.”
“I bloody hope so,” she said, her voice thick. “I accidentally crashed Ermie’s sex-toy party to get it. There’s no way I can ever unsee or unhear what was going on there.”
Mitch laughed. “Dedicated.”
“One hundred percent.”
He liked the way her throat bobbed in the candlelight, especially with the crop burning an impression down the side of his leg.
